About The Artist
Dorothy is a self-trained artist who has always loved experimenting with different colours and textures. Her initial foray in the art world were with tole painting and cross stitch embroidery. Her love of colour and textures has led to a volunteer position at her local church where she has had the privilege of decorating the church sanctuary to enhance the worship experience.
After recently viewing some beautiful moss art installations, she was moved to try to create one herself. And, she has not stopped since! She works from a studio in her home and is entirely self-taught. Some of her current work has already been purchased and installed in a corporate setting, a chiropractor’s office and a hair salon. These works range from twelve feet by eight feet to a simple five by seven inch picture frame.
Her philosophy of creating art sees her using many natural botanicals as well as upcycled picture frames. She has found that preserved moss is a wonderful medium to work with and has recently begun to also incorporate glass into her installations.
